Pool Service: Milking the Off-Season

pool_service Pool service is a particularly-seasonal field, so it’s necessary to be as competitive as possible the rest of the year round. Some pool service owners have secondary businesses to run in the winter, but not everyone has that luxury. The best thing to do to keep everything in the black all year long is to offer your customers important services for as much of the year as possible. Here are some of the ways you can do that, from pool service companies all over the U.S.

Offer Winter Preparation

Winter preparation is an important step in taking care of a pool, but many pool owners don’t bother to go through with it. You should take advantage of this to create opportunities for your business. Toward the end of the season, you should focus your marketing on offering winter preparation to protect pools. There are a lot of different services that go into winter protection, so it’s likely that you already typically perform some of them. If you want to expand your pool service even more, consider carrying the types of products that customers would need to keep their pools protected over the winter. You could make some decent margins selling pool covers directly on service calls.

Laser-Focus Your Leads on Indoor Pools

There are likely a very limited number of indoor pools in your area, but you should always be aggressively pursuing them if you want to keep your business steady all year round. Assume that some of them have contracts that they’ve had for years, contracts that may be outdated. If you’re vigilant in looking for new business through indoor pools and undercutting the competition, you can pull in enough business to keep you stable for the off-season.

Expand Your Services to Match Your Equipment

Many things can be cleaned with the effective equipment used by pool cleaners. Even for things as small as Jacuzzis and hot tubs, there are bound to be people out there who have no intention to do the cleaning themselves. You should consider that most pool cleaning equipment can also be used to clean most non-carpeted surfaces.

Tell Us How You Make It

Seasonal businesses all have struggles in the down months. Tell us how your pool service keeps things moving!
